In a 150-minute exam with 150 objective questions, spending more than 1 minute on any single question is a recipe for running out of time. Traditional subjective methods taught in college must be replaced with objective elimination tactics.
Trick 1: Value Substitution Method. For algebraic identities and trigonometric expressions with variables n or theta, substituting small test values like n=1, 2 or theta=0, pi/4 immediately rules out 3 of the 4 options.
Trick 2: Dimensional / Symmetry Elimination. When finding areas, volumes, or distances involving symmetric parameters, eliminate options that violate dimensional consistency or symmetry.
Trick 3: Calculus Slope Testing. Instead of computing long indefinite integrals, differentiate the 4 given options or evaluate derivative values at an easy point (x=0 or x=1).
